Wiley is 2 1/2 years old and very energetic! He is good with older children, other dogs and cats. He is a
special needs dog as he may be particially deaf but he is very smart and could learn sign language with a
little work. He loves attention and walks very well on a leash. He also rides in the car and is
housebroken. Foster Home JOAN: 956-636-1409 ladue1223@toast.net
Nina, a 4-pound 4-year-old chocolate chihuahua, can’t walk too well, but she can win
your heart with her sweet and loving personality in an instance. She can’t walk so well,
because she was born with dislocated kneecaps on her rear legs. Perhaps it was her
pitiful hobbling on her little bow legs that prompted her owner to leave her behind in
an outside kennel at the Harlingen (Texas) Humane Society on a cool night.

It was at the humane society that Nina’s darling face, wagging tail, and tiny size
caught the attention of Dee Labunski with Tip of Tex K-9 Rescue. A veterinarian
later examined her and recommended that she be seen by an orthopedic specialist.
The specialist diagnosed her problem immediately, Patellar Luxation, or dislocated
kneecaps. Nina’s is a severe case, but her problem can be corrected with surgery.
Unfortunately, such surgery is very expensive, but Nina’s new friends with Tip of Tex
K-9 Rescue and Brownsville PAWS want her to get the help that she needs so that
she can walk normally. They have set up a fund so others can join in the effort to keep
tiny Nina from living her entire life as a cripple. Nina is only 3- 4 years old, so she has
a lot of years left.

People wishing to help Nina get the surgery that she needs can contribute to the Nina
Fund through PAYPAL on the Tip of Tex K-9 Rescue website at www.tipoftexk9rescue.

HOPE - white adult F poodle.  Hope was left at Harlingen Humane Society scared but
seemingly healthy. She sat there for over 10 days without anyone coming to reclaim
or adopt her and got very sick while there.  One morning I got a call that time was up
and either I needed to pick her up ASAP or she would be euthanized.

She was not eating and had diarrhea the last few days there.  I went and got her and
took her straight to my vet and left her there.  She was dehydrated and very sick.
They started IV's on her and ran tests and found out she had contracted parvo
during her stay at Harlingen HS.  She stayed at my vet for 10 days getting IV's
fluids and hospitalization care.  It was a 50/50 chance for her, but I wanted to give
her that chance.

Hope pulled through and is now back at  Tip of Tex and starting to look better.  She
needs to gain some weight but is now eating.  She is starting to wag her tail and is
very quiet and laid back and a friendly, happy poodle.
We have no clue why she was left at Harlingen HS but she has now been given a 2nd
chance that a lot of dogs do not get and we would love to find her a foster home or
forever home real soon.

She will have to continue her recovery process and gain a little weight before we can
spay her but has had basic vaccinations now.
