. History and origins
York Chocolate is said to be a Siamese ancestor, but the color chocolate first appeared in 1980 in New York, as its name implies. It is the result of several crosses between domestic cats, made by an American breeder named Janet Chefari. All current York Chocolate from a chocolate and white lady named Brownie, as well as her all-chocolate son Teddy Bear. Later, Janet continued her various marriages with Siamese cats, which created the lilac line in the existing line.
The race has been recognized by several American feline clubs since 1992, before it reached Europe in the early 2000s.
However, the breed is little known and not very popular. The specific characteristic of this cat is certainly its intense chocolate color given to its abundant coat.
